Bookings for the All-New Toyota Yaris Cross Reach 2,298 Units

Following the recent launch of the all-new Toyota Yaris Cross, UMW Toyota Motor has recorded 2,298 bookings nationwide within two weeks of launch, reflecting strong early demand for Toyota’s latest B-SUV offering.

The response also reflects the model’s appeal among a broad range of customers, including many first-time Toyota owners. With prices starting from RM99,900, the Yaris Cross makes Toyota ownership and access to hybrid electrification more accessible, while giving customers the flexibility of both Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and ICE variants.

The hybrid system is supported by an Atkinson cycle 1.5-litre 16-valve double overhead cam with variable valve timing (VVT-i) engine that produces 66.9kW (91ps) at 5500rpm and 121Nm of torque between 4000 and 4800rpm. The combined engine and electric motor power output is given as 81kW (111ps).

This combined use of engine and electric power is said to provide very good fuel consumption of between 27.8km/l and 33.3km/l, based on Toyota’s internal tests. That’s a highly relevant issue today in getting the best out of one’s petrol ringgit, even with the Budi95 subsidy.

For the non-hybrid engine, this is the 1.5L 2NR-VE engine that delivers a higher output than the Atkinson cycle unit with 78kW (106ps) at 6000rpm and 138Nm at 4200rpm. Both Yaris Cross variants feature a CVT (continuously variable transmission) to channel power to the front wheels.

Locally assembled at Toyota’s manufacturing facility in Bukit Raja, the Yaris Cross expands Toyota’s B-SUV line-up with a compact SUV designed around modern urban lifestyles, supported by Toyota’s trusted ownership experience.

In addition, the Toyota GR Yaris receives a global update, bringing motorsports-derived enhancements to Malaysia. A key update includes a GR-exclusive leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, engineered with a slightly smaller diameter and revised switch layout to improve operability and control during spirited driving.
